With the IPL 2026 mini-auction scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, all 10 franchises have entered the final stretch of preparations after a hectic trading window and an aggressive round of releases.
Teams have cleared significant space in their wage structures, setting up one of the most competitive mini-auction floors in recent seasons. Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings hold the strongest financial positions, while Mumbai Indians remain the most cash-strapped after retaining a core-heavy squad.
The auction dynamics are expected to shift this year, with several high-value players entering the pool and multiple teams looking to rebuild key departments.
IPL mini auction: Money dynamics
KKR enter the auction with the highest purse after releasing several senior names, including Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell, giving them room to rebuild their middle order and overseas balance. CSK, despite acquiring Sanju Samson during the trade window, still carry one of the largest purses following the exit of multiple veterans.Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals also have sizeable budgets, which positions them strongly for strategic signings. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans have moderate budgets that will require disciplined bidding. Punjab Kings have limited flexibility, while Mumbai Indians—left with just ₹2.75 crore—will have to depend largely on their retained core.
