The new iPhone 17 Pro models are facing scratchgate issues wherein people are seeing their new shiny iPhone 17 Pros showing signs of early damages with simple scratches. Apple is using aluminium casing for the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max this year, while the iPhone Air uses titanium materials.

And these scratchgate concerns have been addressed by the company, talking in a report about the validity and reasons. Apple usually reserves making statements for these issues but it has spoken to 9to5Mac in this piece, giving us a closer look at the problems faced by the 17 Pro users.

iPhone 17 Pro Scratchgate Concerns: What Apple Says

The report asked Apple about the iPhone 17 Pro scratches and cites examples of many demo units of 17 Pro in Apple Stores. The company interestingly said the damage and scratches have been caused by worn MagSafe stands that were being used in some of its stores to display the 17 Pro units.

In fact, Apple was quoted saying, the marks are not even scratches, but the materials that have transferred from the stand to the iPhone model which can be easily removed.

In addition to this, the company was questioned about the durable quality of the iPhone 17 Pro camera island that has also been prone to scratches. To which, Apple said, the edges of the iPhone 17 Pro are made of anodised aluminium cases like MacBook and other iPhone models. However, it was quick to mention that the material will see normal wear and tear which could include scratches and other damages over time.

It is easy to say that Apple has dismissed the scratchgate concerns but when you look at the bigger picture, the scratches might not be showing up easily. Some of the clips of the iPhone 17 Pro with scratches seem to have been done with a lot of force which most people will never even dare to try.
