‘I Kinda Feel Guilty’: Kerala Man Living In London Reflects On Leaving Behind Peaceful Village Life
For many people living abroad, going back home can bring a feeling of comfort that is hard to explain. A Kerala-based content creator recently shared how returning to his village from London reminds him of the simple life he grew up with and the emotional cost of living away from home.
Vishnu Vijayadharan, a 25-year-old professional based in the UK, posted a video on Instagram on May 2 showing his time spent in rural Kerala. Through the clip, he gave viewers a glimpse into his peaceful village life surrounded by nature, family and home-cooked food.
The video began with scenic shots of green paddy fields near his family home. Vishnu showed how his parents continue to live a self-sufficient lifestyle by growing fruits and vegetables around the house.
Bananas, avocados, jackfruit, starfruit and different varieties of mangoes could be seen growing in the backyard. The calm surroundings stood in complete contrast to busy city life abroad.
Vishnu also shared moments from his daily routine while staying in Kerala. One part of the video showed him enjoying kanji and payar, a simple traditional Kerala breakfast made with rice porridge and green gram.
Later, fresh oysters and crabs were brought home, after which his mother prepared a full Kerala-style meal for the family.
The video also focused on small but meaningful moments from village life. Vishnu was seen swimming in a pond with his childhood friends and spending quiet time outdoors. He also explored old ancestral homes in the village that have existed for generations.
In some places, he even discovered hidden underground vaults inside the traditional houses. During a local festival at sunset, Vishnu spoke honestly about how he felt emotionally while being back home. He asked viewers whether they would leave such a peaceful life behind to settle abroad and admitted that he sometimes feels guilty for doing so.
The video ended with a calm family moment, highlighting how many young people move away from home for career opportunities while missing the comfort of family life.

Several people described the life shown in the video as “Dream life", “Real luxury", “Paradise," and “King size life."
