Not a chief guests, celebrity or VIP, but a humanoid robot stole the spotlight at a sandwich shop inauguration. A video from the celebratory event has gone viral, where the robot was seen arriving at the venue with bodyguards. It then proceeded to greet guests and even broke into a dance, which turned the inauguration into an unusual sight.
The video from the inauguration, which took place on Sunday, August 23 in Madhay Pradesh’s Ujjain, was shared on X, In it, a Unitree humanoid robot made a surprise appearance at the newly opened shop, alongside armed bodyguards. It greeted a man with a handshake, following which someone placed a piece of cloth around its neck, as a gesture of welcoming the guest.
At one point, the robot raised its hand to wave at others, but one man thought he was giving its blessing to him and bowed down. Few moments later, all of them moved inside, where one man offered the robot a plate of sandwich from the newly inaugurated shop. They even applied vermillion teeka on his after a traditional puja ritual.

But it was the robot’s rhythmic moves at the end that completely stole the limelight. It showed its smooth dancing skills while others behind clapped at the performance. The crowd that gathered outside were also seen laughing, cheering and capturing the spectacle on their phones. At the end, some people also joined the robot in shaking their legs.
“It Dances Better Than Most People"
The unexpected sight of a humanoid robot dancing at the inauguration quickly caught the attention of social media users. While many found the spectacle amusing and entertaining and praised the playful use of technology, others shared that robots might gradually take over everyday jobs.
“It dances better than most people I know," said a user.
Another quipped, “Dance to human se bhi acha kar raha."
