Govinda’s Manager BREAKS Silence On Sunita Ahuja Withdrawing Divorce Plea: 'Aaj Wapas Lena Tha Toh...'
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja’s marriage has been under scrutiny for months, and the latest development has brought the couple’s divorce proceedings back into focus. After reports emerged that Sunita had withdrawn her divorce plea, Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha said he was relieved by the decision but questioned why the dispute was taken to court in the first place.
Sunita was recently seen outside a family court in Bandra, Mumbai, accompanied by her son Yashvardhan Ahuja and their lawyer. Videos from the visit quickly surfaced online, but she remained tight-lipped about what had brought her to court.
Govinda’s Manager Questions Divorce Plea
Reacting to the reported withdrawal, Sinha told NDTV that disagreements within a marriage should ideally be dealt with privately. According to him, discussions about Govinda and Sunita’s differences have been playing out publicly for nearly two years, bringing unwanted attention to the family.
“Zarurat nahi thi jaane ki. Ghar ki baatein ghar mein reh ke, baith ke baatein karke, bahut sab cheezein hoti hain. Aaj wapas lena tha, to kiya kyun tha?" he said.
Expressing disappointment over the public spectacle surrounding the couple, he added, “Ye baat ka mujhe dukh ho gaya. Kahe ko phir tamaasha hum log ban gaye."
Sinha maintained that even serious disagreements can be addressed when family members sit down and communicate. “Confusion and misunderstandings within a family can be resolved by sitting together and talking. Problems may become big, but they are not impossible to sort out," he said.
He also shared that Govinda had not given any reaction to the reported withdrawal of the petition.
“Bhagwan sabko sadbuddhi dein, sab log buddhi se chalein. Bas ye hi achha hai," Sinha added.
Sunita Ahuja Dodges Questions Outside Court
Sunita, meanwhile, did not explain her August 19 court appearance when photographers questioned her outside the premises.
Instead, she brushed aside the queries with humour. “Birthday manane aaye hai," she told the paparazzi before getting into her car.
Her appearance came at a time when her marriage to Govinda had once again become a talking point.
The latest round of attention began after Govinda was spotted at an airport with Komal Rani Swarnkar, who has been linked to him in reports. Sunita subsequently referred to her husband as a “sugar daddy". Govinda later responded sharply, asking her to remain within her limits and alleging that she was trying to defame him.
Sunita Reportedly Filed For Divorce In 2024
Reports had previously claimed that Sunita approached the Bandra Family Court on December 5, 2024, seeking divorce from Govinda under provisions of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. The reported grounds included adultery, cruelty and desertion.
Neither Govinda nor Sunita had publicly laid out the details of the case themselves.
Their subsequent appearances together, however, repeatedly complicated speculation about the state of their marriage. The couple was seen together during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, prompting questions about whether they had reconciled.
Govinda also appeared on Sunita’s shows Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa and Maa Hai Naa despite the reports surrounding their relationship.
Govinda And Sunita Have Been Married Since 1987
Govinda and Sunita tied the knot in March 1987 but initially kept their marriage away from public attention. Their daughter Tina Ahuja was born in 1988, while they welcomed their son Yashvardhan in 1997.
Their marriage has increasingly become a subject of public discussion in recent years, particularly following Sunita’s candid remarks about her husband and their relationship.
Sunita Ahuja initially filed for divorce from Govinda in December 2024, citing cruelty, adultery, and desertion. These grounds are covered under Sections 13(1)(i), 13(1)(ia), and 13(1)(ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
