In a content-driven world, how far is too far? A viral video shows a group of youngsters stepping into a sunflower field to film a reel. At first, it looks harmless, just another aesthetic backdrop. But when you look closer the field represents a farmer’s time, effort, and livelihood.
So where do we draw the line? When does creating content start costing someone else?
The farmer’s anger in the clip isn’t just about a few people crossing into his land, it reflects a growing mindset where permission and respect are often overlooked for the sake of views.
In a hilarious yet upsetting video shows an Indian farmer seen furiously chasing a group of young reel-makers out of his beautiful sunflower field, waving his arms and shouting for trampling his crops. The caption hitting home with many, “Farmer Shouts and Shoes Away Influencers from Sunflower Field".
These influencers had sneaked into the farmer’s sunflower paradise to film “aesthetic" Shahrukh Khan-style reels and golden-hour content. But for the farmer, those vibrant flowers aren’t just Insta props—they’re the result of months of backbreaking work, hope, and his family’s livelihood. Every stomped stem means lost income.
The footage shows a farmer shooing influencers out of his blooming sunflower field to prevent crop damage. The video sparked widespread messages emphasizing respect for farmers’ labor reflecting on a growing trend- people trespassing into fields for golden-hour photos or viral reels, trampling plants in the process whereas farmers see their crops as their income and sweat equity—not just pretty backgrounds.

Although this isn’t isolated to India. Similar problems have occurred worldwide with farmers in California dealing with daily crowds trampling tulip or flower fields for TikTok/Instagram shots, similarly another farmer in Canada, had to shut down access due to destruction.
Social media users have mixed but strong responses with users commenting, “This isn’t a joke only the farmer knows how much effort went into growing these flowers." Others suggesting the farmer to, “Start charging fees for photos" with many criticize influencers for crossing limits in pursuit of likes and views.
One user added a humorous take on the video, saying, “Make sure they spray cowdung mix on such people." Some even brought back the conversation around civic sense, “Yes flowers look good but walking inside field and destroying them is zero civic sense."
