Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinals of the US Open 2025 on Wednesday (September 3). After losing the first set, Auger-Aliassime made a strong comeback to claim the next three set and clinch a win with 4-6, 7(9)-6(7), 7-5,7(7)-6(4) scoreline.
He battled past eighth seed Alex de Minaur in a thrilling four-set match which spanned over four hours. This marks his second major semifinal appearance, four years after his breakthrough at the same tournament in 2021.
What happened in the match?
The match was a rollercoaster, with Auger-Aliassime staring down a two-set deficit early on. De Minaur took the first set 6-4, putting the Canadian on the back foot. However, Auger-Aliassime turned the tables in an 85-minute second set, clinching a tense tiebreak to level the score. His ability to stay composed in critical moments shone through as he navigated two more tightly contested sets, ultimately sealing the win in another tiebreak.“It was just a lot of nerves today during the whole match, it wasn't pretty at all times, but that's what Grand Slam matches are,” Auger-Aliassime said in his on-court interview.

Felix Auger-Aliassime's journey to the semifinals has been a testament to his resurgence in 2025. After a strong start to the year with titles in Adelaide and Montpellier, the Canadian faced challenges mid-season.
