‘Elect anyone else’: Tejashwi Yadav's offer to step down shocks RJD amid escalating family feud

In an unexpected and emotionally charged turn inside the RJD legislature party meeting on Monday, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav told party MLAs that they were free to pick another leader to head the party in the Bihar assembly, ToI reported, citing sources.
According to MLAs present, Tejashwi appeared visibly distressed as he told colleagues they could replace him if they believed it would help the organisation regroup after its poor performance.
One legislator recalled him saying that they had the “option to elect anyone else as RJD legislative party leader,” noting that he even alluded to internal pressures over ticket distribution. He reportedly asked, “What to do? Do I see the party? Or the family?”
RJD confronts its losses and turns anger on EVMs

The RJD won only 25 of the 143 seats it contested, a distant third-place finish that marks a sharp reversal from 2020.
Senior leader Jagadanand Singh declared that the defeat stemmed from manipulation of voting machines. “Till the time machine (EVM) is there, democracy will be mocked. These machines were misused,” he said.
MLA Bhai Birendra echoed him, insisting, “We have to fight against EVMs. We demand that elections should be held using ballot papers.”
Rohini Acharya's blistering accusations intensify the turmoil
Tejashwi's emotional remarks came against the backdrop of an extraordinary public outburst by his sister Rohini Acharya, who over the weekend accused members of her brother's circle of spreading rumours that she had donated a “bad” kidney to Lalu Prasad “in exchange for crores of rupees and a party ticket.”Rohini, who was based in Singapore when her father underwent a transplant three years ago, alleged she had been pushed out of her home by Tejashwi, Sanjay Yadav, and Rameez — a close friend from her brother's cricketing years. A day earlier, she had declared she was “quitting politics and disowning my family.”
“Yesterday abuses were heaped on me and I was accused of donating my bad kidney to my father, and that too in exchange for crores of rupees and a party ticket," Rohini said.
I would tell all married women never to do anything to save their parents, and if they have a brother, they should ask him to donate his own kidney or ask his Haryanavi friend to do so, she added.
Her posts expressed anguish over the sacrifice she made:“I committed a sin by donating my kidney without seeking the approval of my husband or in-laws or thinking of my three children… may no daughter meet the fate of Rahini.”
She also alleged she was verbally abused and nearly attacked.
“Despite being a married woman and a mother, abuses were hurled at me and a slipper was picked up to hurl at me,” she claimed, adding she left “amid sobs, abandoning my parents and sisters," Lalu's daughter said.
Before flying to Delhi on Saturday, she told reporters that her demand for accountability after the party's loss had soured relations.
Rohini also criticised Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, calling them self-proclaimed strategists who dismissed inputs from grassroots workers. She amplified a post describing Rameez — whose father-in-law, former MP Rizwan Zaheer, is in jail in a murder case — as “a gangster with a criminal bent of mind, a murder accused who works for Sanjay Yadav.”
