Now, the main question for students entering 11th grade is which stream will best equip them for a future where AI may replace many jobs.
The decision is no longer just between science, commerce, or arts but about how well you can adapt to AI. AI has opened numerous new career paths. Humanities majors can now engage in data analysis, while commerce students can use AI tools to predict the stock market. However, the basics are still crucial. When considering which path to take for 11th grade, you should assess both your interests and academics while also understanding market demand.
In this AI era, knowing how to learn and which stream provides the most flexibility is more critical than what you study. Choosing your 11th grade stream after 10th board exams isn’t easy. Consider the following points to help make your decision easier:
1. Science (PCM/PCB): A powerhouse of coding and research
If you wish to become the “brains" behind machines, science remains the best choice. AI relies heavily on mathematics and coding. PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Math) can lead you to careers in data science, machine learning, and robotics. 5. Vocational and skill-based courses: Work is more valuable than a degree
In the AI age, it’s not about the degree you hold but what you can “do." You can choose vocational subjects like coding, graphic design, data visualisation, or digital content creation alongside your 11th grade studies. Combining these skills with mainstream knowledge will set you ahead of many students who rely solely on bookish knowledge.
Learning to prompt AI tools and utilise them is now akin to learning a new language, applicable to any stream you choose.
