Bank Holiday Next Week: While digital banking services such as internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services will continue to remain available, physical bank branches of SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and other lenders will remain closed on four dates in applicable locations.
Bank Holiday Next Week: As the fourth week of August 2026 approaches, bank customers should keep track of the upcoming holidays to plan branch visits accordingly. From August 24 to August 30, banks will remain closed on four days in several cities due to regional festivals and the scheduled Sunday holiday.
Below is the list of bank closures next week, based on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar:

While digital banking services such as internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services will continue to remain available, physical bank branches of SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and other lenders will remain closed on four dates in applicable locations.
August 25 (Tuesday): Banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed on account of Milad-Un-Nabi, First Onam and Milad-i-Sherif.
August 26 (Wednesday): Banks in Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada will remain closed for Id-E-Milad, Baravafat, Milad-un-Nabi and Thiruvonam.
August 28 (Friday): Banks in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed on account of Raksha Bandhan, Pang-Lhabsol, Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi and Ayyankali Jayanthi, among other regional observances.
August 30 (Sunday): Banks across India will remain closed for the weekly Sunday holiday.

Except for the regional holidays on August 25, August 26 and August 28, and the nationwide Sunday holiday on August 30, banks are expected to remain open on August 24 (Monday), August 27 (Thursday) and August 29 (Saturday) across most parts of the country.
However, bank customers should check with their respective branch before visiting, as bank holidays can vary by state and city.

However, digital banking services, including internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services, continue to remain available.
Types of bank holidays as per the RBI are divided into three categories:
1) Bank Holidays as per Negotiable Instruments Act–This is related to cheque clearance and branch banking services.
2) RTGS Holidays–Days on which no transactions are made by way of Real Time Gross Settlement system through branches of the banks.
3) Bank Holiday of Account Closing–Generally falls on April 1 each year.

24/7 Availability: RTGS, NEFT, UPI and internet banking services operate continuously throughout the holidays. Customers can use the digital banking services to transfer funds, pay bills and shop online at any hour of the day, including Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays and on official bank holidays.

Transaction Processing: Digital transactions reach completion in less than one minute or within thirty minutes in most situations. When a user performs a payment through mobile banking or internet banking, the transaction will process without any delays during holidays.
Branch Limitations: Physical bank branches have restrictions, while digital channels enable users to access all services without interruptions. Bank branches will not process RTGS transactions that customers initiate at the branch during holidays or during the second and fourth Saturdays when the branch remains closed. The bank only processes transactions that customers submit through its online digital platforms during these specific times.
