Apple’s September 9 event: Here’s what to expect — iPhone 17, Apple Watch Series 11, and more
Tech giant Apple is gearing up for its much-anticipated event on Tuesday, where it is likely to introduce the latest iPhone 17 lineup alongside new wearables and accessories.
The event, streaming live from Apple Park in Cupertino, California, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time (PT), will showcase a range of new products. It can be accessed via YouTube livestream on the official handle as well.1) iPhone 17 models
The event will mark the debut of the iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
As we reported earlier, leaks and early design images suggest the iPhone 17 Pro Max might come with a battery over 5,000 mAh — the biggest ever in an iPhone.
The iPhone 17 lineup is also expected to include larger displays and improved cameras across the board.
Another big rumour reported earlier is that the iPhone 17 Air, which may replace the current Plus model, may be Apple's slimmest phone ever, measuring just 5.5 mm, thinner than any iPhone before it.
The device may come with a 6.6-inch screen, giving users a large display in a very slim design.
According to media reports, the iPhone 17 range might be priced as follows:
iPhone 17 (base model): Rs 89,900 iPhone 17 Air: Around Rs 95,000 iPhone 17 Pro Max: Rs 164,900
Apple is also expected to continue its global transition toward eSIM-only devices, phasing out physical SIM card slots across the lineup.
2) Apple Watch
The Apple Watch Series 11 may feature new health-tracking tools, including blood pressure monitoring and sleep score metrics, along with improved battery life.
Apple might also unveil the Watch Ultra 3 with a larger display in roughly the same casing. It is likely to have 5G connectivity, as well as satellite messaging.
A refreshed Watch SE could also make an appearance.
3) AirPods 3
As for AirPods, the third-generation AirPods Pro are likely to debut with upgraded audio quality and advanced health sensors. These health sensors will work in coordination with the Apple Watch for better tracking during workouts.
Following the release of the AirPods Pro 2 in 2022, the new AirPods Pro 3 are expected to include a slimmer design, touch-sensitive controls, smaller earbuds, and a more compact case.
They'll also likely feature the H3 chip, which is expected to improve noise cancellation and adaptive audio.
Users may expect a new live translation feature for the AirPods as well.
4) Operating systems
Apple is also expected to announce software updates, including iOS 26, watchOS 26, macOS Tahoe, and more.
iOS 26 will reportedly feature the new “Liquid Glass” design language, first revealed at Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) earlier this year.
Meanwhile, reports surfaced that Apple is stepping up its iPhone production in India, moving assembly of all upcoming iPhone 17 models to five local factories, including two that have just started operations, as per a report by Bloomberg last month.
This marks the first time that every new iPhone variation, including the premium Pro versions, will be manufactured in India from the start.
