Apollo Tyres wins Team India jersey sponsorship rights with ₹579 crore bid
Apollo Tyres has emerged as the front-of-jersey sponsor for the Indian cricket team, securing the rights with a ₹579 crore bid, surpassing Canva and JK Cement. The sponsorship, spanning from September 2025 to March 2028, encompasses approximately 140 matches across various tournaments. This deal follows Dream11's exit due to regulatory changes, marking a new chapter for the high-profile sponsorship slot.
Apollo Tyres has outbid rivals to secure the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) front-of-jersey sponsorship for the national cricket team with a winning offer of ₹579 crore, said people aware of the matter.
Canva submitted the second-highest bid at ₹554 crore, followed by JK Cement at ₹477 crore. Shankh Air and Dubai-based Omniyat are also believed to have shown interest in the sponsorship. Shankh Air could not meet the eligibility criteria, while Omniyat chose not to bid.
WPP Media and ITW Universe had also picked up tender documents. WPP, which manages Apollo Tyres' media planning and buying, advised the company on the deal. ITW was fronting Spinny, which ultimately opted out.
The sponsorship will run from September 30, 2025, to March 31, 2028, covering an estimated 140 matches across bilateral series, International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments, and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events.
This fresh cycle follows BCCI's ₹358-crore deal with Dream11, which ended last month after the government banned money-based gaming under the Online Gaming Act, 2025. India is currently playing the Asia Cup without a jersey sponsor.
The cricket board had set a reserve price of ₹452 crore for the three-year cycle. The floor price was fixed at ₹3.5 crore per bilateral and ACC match and ₹1.5 crore per ICC game.
Apollo's win adds a new chapter to a sponsorship slot often regarded as both prestigious and precarious. Past jersey sponsors including Dream11, Byju's, Oppo, and Sahara have faced regulatory hurdles, financial strain, or reputational setbacks soon after signing the high-profile deal.
