Electrician Uses Fan Regulator To Dim Tube Light, Internet Calls It ‘Peak Jugaad’ | Video
An electrician’s simple trick using a fan regulator to control a tube light’s brightness has left many people amused online. The short clip shows how a common household device was used in an unexpected way to dim the light smoothly.
The video has now sparked conversations around Indian “jugaad" and how people often find low-cost solutions using everyday items. While some called it smart and creative, others pointed out that the trick is old and comes with technical limits.
The clip begins with a woman standing beside a glowing tube light while adjusting a fan regulator fixed on the wall. As she turns the regulator slowly, the brightness of the tube light starts changing.
The light becomes dimmer and brighter depending on how much the regulator is moved. People standing nearby can be heard laughing and reacting to the unusual setup. The video then zooms in on the woman’s hand as she continues adjusting the regulator to control the light level.

The unusual setup quickly grabbed attention online, with many users praising the creativity behind the idea. Some users said such “jugaad" solutions are very common in Indian households and reflect practical thinking.

Many people in the comments section found the trick entertaining and smart. A user wrote, “We Indians are the best in jugaad We can do anything." Another commented, “India is not for beginners."
However, some users said the idea was not new at all. “How’s that jugaad? Childs play for electrician," a person wrote. Another said, “No rocket science. Did that decades ago."
A few users also explained the technical side of the setup. A user wrote, “I have seen this in childhood. But it wasn’t sustainable because at low power settings, the regulator used to get hot." Another explained, “Fan regulator controls voltage that needs to switch on tube light. At low voltage it will flicker or blinking not smooth stable light."
A person also defended the trick by saying, “Technically correct because tube lights are inductive loads just like fans. Regulator handles both without drama. Basic electrical theory applied smartly."
