EC seeks Prashant Kishor’s response to report saying he is registered as voter in Bihar and Bengal

The Election Commission has issued notice to Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor after reports emerged that he is enrolled as a voter in both West Bengal and Bihar, The Indian Express reported on Tuesday.
In West Bengal, Kishor's address is listed as 121 Kalighat Road, which houses the Trinamool Congress headquarters in Bhabanipur, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's constituency, the newspaper reported.
Kishor had worked as a political consultant for the Trinamool Congress during the 2021 Assembly elections.
His polling station is shown as St Helen School on B Ranishankari Lane.
In Bihar, Kishor is registered as a voter under the Sasaram parliamentary constituency in Kargahar Assembly segment. His polling station is Madhya Vidyalay, Konar, in Rohtas district, , The Indian Express reported.
Following the reports, the Electoral Officer for the Kargahar Assembly constituency issued Kishor a notice, asking him to respond within three days.
A member of Kishor's team told The Indian Express that he became a voter in Bihar after the Bengal polls and had applied to have his Bengal voter registration cancelled. However, the individual did not specify the status of that request.
Under Section 17 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, a person cannot be registered in the electoral rolls for more than one constituency. Once registered, voters can shift their enrollment by filing Form 8, meant for changes of residence or corrections.
The Assembly elections in Bihar will be held on November 6 and 11, with counting on November 14.
Jan Suraaj has fielded candidates in 240 of the state's 243 constituencies.
