‘Drunk’ Pune Man Rams Car Into Disabled Pedestrian, Refuses To Step Out & Screams: ‘I’m A Policeman’s Son’ | Video

A shocking road mishap in Narayan Peth, Pune, has raised concerns among local residents. A group of youngsters returning home after a late-night party reportedly hit a disabled man walking along the road. While people in the area rushed to help the injured man, tensions escalated when the driver allegedly shouted that his father is a policeman. The remark angered the crowd, who felt the youths were attempting to evade responsibility by invoking their family background.

According to the Free Press Journal, it is still unclear whether the youth was driving the car too fast or if the man suddenly came into the vehicle's path. Soon after, a team from Vishrambaug Police Station arrived at the scene. They shifted the injured victim to a nearby hospital for treatment and detained the driver along with the others inside the car for further questioning.

Youth Hit Disabled Man While Returning From Party

After the crash, the youth in the vehicle reportedly refused to step out, prompting bystanders to pull them from the car. The situation escalated when one of them began shouting, “I'm a policeman's son, don't hit me." The remark further aggravated the crowd, and in the ensuing chaos, the driver and his two male friends were assaulted. The two women in the car, frightened by the commotion, stepped out and attempted to calm the situation.

The video posted on X (Formerly Twitter) came with the caption, “A group of youngsters returning from a party rammed their car into a disabled man and then behaved as though the law didn't apply to them. If the police want public trust, this is the moment to prove it. Arrest him, charge him, and stop letting badges become family property."

Assaulting a disabled man is horrible enough. But shouting, “I'm a cop's son, don't touch me!" exposes an even deeper rot, inherited impunity. Social Media Users Demand Action Against Rash And Drunk Driving

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Horrible enough that a disabled man was hit, but yelling ‘I'm a cop's son,' makes it even uglier. If reports hold, this calls for straight-up action under IPC 279, 337/338, 323, 506 & 34. Badges aren't family property. Time for Pune Police to walk the talk."

Another shared, “Day 1059 of Pune's law and order city is going from bad to worse. And as always, it is the entitled brats or karyakaryas/goondas who spread terror among common citizens in the city. It is high time the govt and local bodies woke up to the crisis. Else, no amount of development or infra can help us."

“First of all, the public themselves should've beaten him up for a good hour," a comment read.

An individual stated, “In India, if you come from a family of cops, politicians, or businessmen, basically any family with money, you get a waiver from legal action."

Another mentioned, “I can guarantee there will be no FIR, no arrest for the cop's son. Most probably, the disabled person will be threatened not to file a case. Police in any place in India have become a front for most illegal activities. The only thing left is a bravery medal for the cop's son for this."

One more added, “His father needs to be suspended. Otherwise, tomorrow he might commit a murder and misuse his father's position."
