Draymond vs. Courtside Troll: NBA Steps In, Angel Reese Gets Caught in Crossfire
Draymond Green has escaped with little more than a slap on the wrist after a heated courtside dust-up during the Warriors' 124-106 win over the Pelicans on Sunday.
The NBA issued Green a formal warning (not a fine) after he confronted a New Orleans fan who repeatedly taunted him by calling him “Angel Reese."
The exchange unfolded with two minutes left in the second quarter. After being whistled for a foul, Green walked straight over to the fan, later identified as Sam Green, and went chest-to-chest as the two traded words before officials stepped in. The fan wasn't ejected; he also received only a warning from arena security.
Draymond explained postgame that the fan kept yelling “a woman's name" at him — that of the Chicago Sky star — after he missed multiple tip-ins earlier. The jab referenced a common dig at Reese: critics claim her gaudy rebounding numbers come from cleaning up her own misses, a joke she's since flipped into a trademarked phrase, “mebounds."
Green said referee Courtney Kirkland stepped in and told him, “Don't get yourself in trouble. I'll take care of it." Draymond kept his cool — at least by his own standards — but made his frustration clear: “You can't keep calling me a woman. I got four kids, one on the way."
Sam, meanwhile, insisted he wasn't swearing and was surprised Green approached him: “For him to walk 12 feet off the court to get in my face… it was unnerving."
This isn't new territory for Draymond; the NBA fined him $25,000 in 2022 for directing obscene language at a fan.

Unfortunately for Angel Reese, she was dragged into the situation without consent and chimed in on X: “literally minding my business."
In the end? Warnings for both parties, no ejections, no fines, and a likely reminder that things could be very interesting when Golden State returns to New Orleans on February 24.
