Bihar Polls: Don't allow vote theft; it's your responsibility, says Rahul Gandhi in Purnia
Rahul Gandhi has leveled serious accusations against the BJP and the Election Commission, alleging vote manipulation in the states of Haryana and Bihar. He urged the voters in Bihar to stand vigilant and protect their democratic rights this time around.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday repeated his "vote chori in Haryana election" charge and urged voters in Bihar not to let it happen there.
Gandhi's appeal to voters during a campaign address in Purnia marked a change of tone from his allegation at a press meet on Wednesday that after the "vote theft" in Haryana in 2024 assembly elections, "the same thing will happen in Bihar". That remark was lapped up by BJP to claim that the Opposition leader had conceded defeat even before voting.
"Wherever they (BJP) are contesting elections, they are winning elections by stealing votes. Yesterday, we showed the whole world that BJP and Election Commission have stolen Haryana elections, and they stole the last election in Bihar as well," Gandhi said in his address.
"So, this time, vote theft must not be allowed. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Election Commission are involved in vote theft. It is your responsibility to protect Constitution. We must not let vote theft happen," he said.
Gandhi reiterated his allegation that chief minister Nitish Kumar is being remote-controlled by the prime minister. "The world's best universities and hospitals should be established in Bihar. Bihar should become a global tourism and industrial hub. But Prime Minister Modi and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar cannot do this," he alleged. "Nitish Kumar cannot do anything because he is being remotely controlled by Prime Minister Modi. The government is...being run by bureaucrats from Bihar and Delhi, Prime Minister Mod and Union home minister Amit Shah."
