Did You Know ‘Horoscopes Don’t Work’ For Sikhs? Astrologer Explains How Their Practices Easily Evade ‘Dosh’
Many people look for ways to remove negativity from their lives, and every faith offers its own path to achieve this balance. Recently, astrologer and psychic Shivani Aggarwal shared her thoughts on how the teachings of Sikhism can help reduce negative influences. In a video shared on Instagram, she spoke about two important practices followed in Sikhism, Seva and Charity, and how they can help balance the negative houses in one's horoscope.
In her video, Shivani began by sharing an observation that made her think. “Someone told me that we don't look at horoscopes in Sikhism because the horoscope doesn't work on them, and it really made me think that there must be some logic behind this," she said. She went on to explain that followers of Sikhism regularly engage in seva and charity and these two directly help in balancing out two major negative houses in astrology, the 6th and the 12th house.
The Role Of Seva In Balancing The 6th House
Shivani explained that in astrology, the 6th house is considered a difficult one as it represents struggles like illness, debts or conflicts. It is also connected to what is known as Shadripu that means Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Mada and Matsarya (desire, anger, greed, attachment, pride and envy). She said when this house becomes active, people often face problems such as taking loans, falling ill or getting caught in legal disputes.
According to Shivani, one of the most powerful ways to reduce the negative effects of the 6th house is through Seva. “Seva means selfless work done with the body where the hands and feet move, there is hard work but there is no desire to get anything," she said. She described it as an act of service performed with sincerity and without expecting any reward in return.
Referring to Gurbani, the sacred writings in the Guru Granth Sahib, Shivani added, “Gurbani says, ‘I am focused, there is Seva.' I mean ego — surrendering your ego to the divine and helping someone with the body without any expectations is the real Seva." She shared that Sikhism places great importance on Seva because it teaches people to let go of ego, serve others with devotion and in turn bring balance into their lives.

The Role Of Charity In Balancing The 12th House
Shivani further explained the meaning of the 12th house in astrology which she described as the house of expenses, isolation and losses. She said that when this house becomes active, a person may experience endless spending, disturbed sleep or loneliness. The best way to reduce its impact is through acts of charity.
“Charity means to help someone with money, things, or time," Shivani explained. She said that by giving in any form possible, one can calm the negative effects of the 12th house.

Shivani shared that both Seva and Charity are not just rituals but form the very foundation of Sikhism. They represent selflessness, kindness and compassion towards others. According to her, these practices go beyond religion and can be adopted by anyone who wishes to live a more peaceful and balanced life.
“So, we saw Seva and Charity are inseparable elements of Sikhism. That is why Sikh Gurus made Seva and Charity not just a ritual but a backbone of Sikhism," she said in her video. Shivani added that if people try to bring these two things into their daily lives, many of their problems can be reduced.
