Did South Korea’s President Attend BLACKPINK’s Pre-Listening Event? What We Know

BLACKPINK, one of the biggest girl groups in the world, is making their full group return to the music scene with a new album, and excitement is reaching fever pitch among fans worldwide. Titled DEADLINE, the mini-album is scheduled for release today, February 27, at 2 PM KST (10:30 AM IST). The group’s agency left no stone unturned in making its comeback as grand as possible.

Just days before its release, the agency announced a special pre-listening event titled DEADLINE: BLACKPINK WILL MAKE YOU for the group’s new album, at the National Museum of Korea on February 26. As scheduled, the museum lit up in pink with many fans in attendance.

According to a post shared by the group’s fan page, the event drew notable attendees, including South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and his wife, Kim Hea Kyung. In pictures from the event that were shared on X (formerly Twitter), the two appeared to be enjoying the pre-listening party. It is worth noting that none of the four BLACKPINK members – Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa or Rose- were present at the event.

Internet Reacts To South Korean President’s Alleged Presence At BLACKPINK’s Pre-Listening Event

Once the pictures surfaced online, many people claimed that the President and his wife were at the museum not for BLACKPINK’s pre-listening event but for another reason. One user said, “They are at the museum, but not for the listening party lmao this acc always spreads lies its so funny atp."

“LMAO, the President of Korea isn’t jobless to listen to a K-pop band…they are there for some exhibitions," quipped another.

A different person shared, “Please don’t spread misinformation. They did visit the museum, but not for the pre-listening event. They just happened to be seen at the pre-listening venue, but they’re not there for that. Check your source first, please."

Everything To Know About BLACKPINK’s New Album DEADLINE

DEADLINE is BLACKPINK’s third mini album, their first full group release since their second studio album, Born Pink, in 2022. They are releasing their new project right after they wrapped up their massive seven-month DEADLINE world tour. Popularised as the group’s first all-stadium tour, it began on July 5, 2025, at Goyang Stadium in South Korea and concluded on January 26, 2026, at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.

Besides the lead single, JUMP, which the group released in July last year at the beginning of their world tour, their new album will have four more songs. They are: GO, Me and my, Champion, and Fxxxboy. GO has been named as the title track of the album.

As part of the National Museum of Korea X BLACKPINK initiative, a special listening zone will run from February 27 to March 8 at the location.
