The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an airworthiness directive banning the use of multiple models of Airbus family of aircrafts following concerns over safety risk regarding a software update by the company. Over 6,000 planes, mainly the A320 model, are thought to be affected
The disruption has fallen on a major holiday weekend in the US, which is home to four of the biggest A320 model operators: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue and United Airlines
Several major airlines including Delta Airlines, Air Canada, LATAM Brasil, Azul Brazilian Airlines, SkyWest Airlines, and Jetstar have announced widespread flight cancellations across domestic and international routes.

Some of the major airlines disrupted due to this development are listed below:
Delta Airlines: Delta Airlines is facing significant operational disruptions, with flights cancelled across key domestic and international routes.
Air Canada: Air Canada is also facing major cancellations, with flights grounded across key routes, affecting travellers flying from North America to Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
American Airlines: The world's largest A320 operator is impacted by the recall and over 200 of its aircraft are affected. However, the airline expects to get done with the software fix overnight, reported CBS News.
ANA: Japan's biggest airline, ANA Holdings, has cancelled 65 flights after the A320 recall forced it to ground some aircraft.

Indian Airlines like Air India and IndiGo have also announced delays in operation. However, no flights are cancelled.
