PL Round-up: De Ligt’s Late Header Saves Manchester United In 2-2 Thriller At Tottenham

Manchester United salvaged a dramatic 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, thanks to a 96th-minute equaliser from Matthijs de Ligt, in a pulsating Premier League encounter in north London.

United took the lead in the 32nd minute when Bryan Mbeumo struck amid growing frustration from home fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The hosts were booed off at half-time but stormed back late, with Mathys Tel equalising in the 84th minute and Richarlison deflecting in a Wilson Odobert shot in stoppage time to complete what seemed a stunning turnaround.

However, just as Tottenham looked set for a memorable win, De Ligt rose highest in the box to head home a last-gasp leveller, extending United's unbeaten run to five games.

For Tottenham, the result marked another missed opportunity and continued their worrying home slump — just one win in six league matches at their own ground in 2025. United, meanwhile, remain winless in their last eight clashes with Spurs, including a painful 1-0 loss in last season's Europa League final.

United boss Ruben Amorim rued his side's missed chances. “The three points were there for us. If we show a bit more bravery, we kill this game," he said.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank was equally frustrated, admitting, “The last goal is all about urgency — we shouldn't have let that cross come in."

Results Around The League

Elsewhere, West Ham boosted their survival hopes with a 3-2 win over Burnley, while Everton ended their three-game winless run by beating Fulham 2-0.

The day's results set the stage for Arsenal's clash with Sunderland, where Mikel Arteta's side — chasing their first league title since 2004 — can move nine points clear at the top with victory. The Gunners have won their last 10 matches in all competitions and are determined to turn consistency into silverware finally.
