Another year, another jaw-dropping milestone for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese superstar has officially entered a league of his own: he's now football's first billionaire player, according to Bloomberg.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which tracks the world's richest people, has valued the 40-year-old Al-Nassr striker's net worth at a staggering $1.4bn (£1.04bn). That includes career earnings, endorsements, and smart investments along the way.
Ronaldo's reported salary between 2002 and 2023 exceeds $550m (£410m), while his sponsorship deals — including a decade-long Nike contract reportedly worth nearly $18m (£13.4m) per year — have helped build his empire.
When he joined Al-Nassr in 2022, Ronaldo became the highest-paid footballer in history, pocketing a jaw-dropping £177m per year, tax-free, with extras like equity in the club and private jet access. His contract was recently extended for two more years, reportedly over $400m (£298m), keeping him in Saudi Arabia past his 42nd birthday.
To put it in perspective, his last contract paid him roughly £300 per minute, and the crown jewel of his fortune is a lifetime Nike deal worth £745m, by far his biggest commercial agreement.
Beyond Nike, Ronaldo also has lucrative partnerships with Tag Heuer, Armani, Louis Vuitton, Samsung, Unilever, and more.
Meanwhile, his eternal rival Lionel Messi has some catching up to do.
The 38-year-old Inter Miami forward has earned more than $600m (£447m) in pre-tax salary over his career — including $20m (£15m) annually since 2023 — roughly 10% of Ronaldo's income during the same period.
Messi, though, will also receive a stake in Inter Miami upon retirement, which will add to his earnings.
