Country in full-fledged reform express phase: PM at NDA Meet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India is on a 'reform express'. Reforms are citizen-centric and moving fast. The Prime Minister urged MPs to share people's problems. He aims to end lengthy forms and paperwork. Services should reach citizens' doorsteps. This trust in self-certification has worked for ten years. Laws must convenience people and not harass them.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the country is now in a 'reform express' phase, with reforms happening at a fast pace and with clear intent, sources said.
Addressing the NDA parliamentary party meeting, Modi said the government's reforms were citizen-centric, not just economic or revenue-focused. Modi urged all MPs to actively share the real problems faced by ordinary people so that the 'reform express' can reach every household and remove day-to-day hardships.
The PM said he wants to end the culture of 30-40-page forms and unnecessary paperwork, stressing that we "need to provide services at the doorstep of citizens" and eliminate repeated data submissions. He recalled the government trusted citizens by allowing self-certification and emphasised that this trust has worked successfully for 10 years without misuse, sources said. The NDA leaders felicitated Modi at the meeting at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament Library Building by presenting him with a large garland. Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda were among those present at the meeting.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Union minister Kiren Rijiju said the PM laid down some good guidelines for the lawmakers. The PM said no Indian should face any inconvenience and everyone must ensure that rules and regulations are there for the convenience of the common people and to improve their lives, he said. "The prime minister said laws should not be a burden on anyone but should be for people's convenience. There should be no law which harasses people without any reason," Rijiju said.
