Congress urges alertness ahead of May 4 count
Congress and its allies met before the May 4 vote count. Party workers were asked to remain vigilant and ignore exit poll predictions favoring the BJP. Leaders expressed distrust in the Election Commission, alleging bias. They are confident in their performance and have made plans for the counting day. The alliance aims to secure a significant number of seats.
Guwahati: The congress party and its allies held a meeting ahead of May 4 counting of votes. The party asked its workers to be very alert and not to get disheartened by the predictions of exit polls which has given a clear edge to BJP and its allies indicating a third consecutive term for NDA.
AICC General Secretary and Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh told media persons in Guwahati on Saturday, “Congress and its allies will get 70 to 75 seats. The meeting was attended by DK Shivakumar, Bandhu Tirkey, and Bhupesh Baghel. They will meet all the candidates and advise them to remain especially alert during this election, because there is no trust in the Election Commission. It is being alleged that the Election Commission is working like a worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party. You have seen throughout this election and not just here, but also in places like Bengal and other states that the Election Commission has created irregularities”.
He added, “Whenever complaints were made, no action was taken on them. This is the purpose of today’s meeting. Regarding the exit polls, you are all aware of them. I would like to make two points here. First, during the Lok Sabha elections, all the exit poll agencies had predicted 300 to 430 seats. They even gave the slogan of '400 paar'. But what happened? The results did not even reach 250, and a majority was not achieved. So, there is no trust in these exit polls. These exit polls are being conducted to create pressure on officials and on candidates from other parties."

As there are rumours that Congress may shift MLA in other states post declaration of results, Congress MP Rakibul Hussain said, "We are united. They (BJP and its partners) should worry about where the people of Himanta Biswa Sarma, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Dilip Saikia are kept. We are confident. We will stay at home. We will go to the Governor's house when needed."
Bhagel said, “Exit polls are never correct and we have planned out how to go about it on May 4.”

AJP contested 10 seats, Left parties were there in three seats, and two seats were given to All-Party Hill Leaders Conference.
