Chhath Song Replacing Rly Announcement To ‘Bedsheet Swing’ Inside Coach: Viral Scenes From Trains To Bihar
Chhath Puja, a four-day-long Hindu festival dedicated to the Sun God (Surya), and Chhathi Maiya begin today, October 25. It is celebrated mostly by the people of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. As the celebrations began today, festive fervour gripped several cities across India.
In Delhi, a heavy rush of migrant workers was seen at the Railway station heading to their hometown to celebrate the sacred festival with their families.
Chhath Puja Song At New Delhi Railway Station
In a video shared on X, the Chhath Puja song could be heard playing through the mic instead of the train announcement.
Sharing the clip, a man working at the station said, “Main New Delhi station par duty kar raha hun, aur yahan Chhath maiyya ka gaana chal raha hai. Main bata nahi sakta kaisi feeling ho rahi hai. Bihar walon ke liye Chhath ka gaana aur Chhath ka parv, isse khoosurat kuch nahi hai duniya mein."
(I'm on duty at New Delhi station, and the Chhath Maiya song is playing. I can't describe the feeling. For the people of Bihar, nothing is more beautiful than the Chhath song and the Chhath festival in the world.)
Indian's Jugaad Inside Train
Another clip highlights the situation of the Indian Railways as a man was seen hanging in a bedsheet swing inside a train for around 12 hours straight during his journey to Bihar for Chhath Puja festivities. The passenger shared that he had not even eaten anything and had not used the washroom since boarding the train.
What Does The Internet Have to Say?
An X user commented, “These people should remember this on voting day. Bihar, despite having courageous, laborious youth, is one of the most backwards states. Reason being lack of political will."
Another one wrote, “I think this is because of reservations in trains." One of them shared, “No infrastructure in the world can handle such a large movement of people on a single day. India does a pretty good job at managing it. Yes, we can do better and efforts are made every year to ease congestion."
“Crowd is not just about the number of trains, it's also about preference. Special trains still have seats or very less waiting, but people skip them since they're usually delayed," a person wrote. Another one shared, “With fuel prices increasing, leading to high ticket prices in buses. We need a massive number of passenger trains to fulfil demand. Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, etc are fine, I truly appreciate it. But concentrate on this, please."
The Chhath Puja festivities will end on Tuesday, October 28. The final day is marked by the Usha Arghya ritual, where devotees offer prayers to the rising sun.
