Chennai Man Claims ‘Toxic’ Boss Doesn’t Allow ‘2-Day Planned Leave’, Says ‘Can’t Club Weekends’: 'He Cries Like A Child'

A man from Chennai took to Reddit to express his frustration over how difficult it is for him to take leave at work. He said he plans his days off well in advance, yet his manager never agrees when he asks for two days in a row.

According to him, this has been happening every month, and it has now reached a point where he feels the need to talk about it online. His post quickly caught people's attention.

The Email That Sparked His Frustration

The post also included a picture of an email from his manager. In the message, the manager reminded him, “As discussed several times earlier, pls avoid taking leaves 2 days at a stretch as it is impacting the entire team's productivity." The manager said he had already allowed leave on October 28 and 29 but could not approve leave on November 26 and 27. The message ended with, “Ok for 19th November."

After sharing the screenshot, the man explained the situation in his Reddit post. He wrote, “So, my Manager doesn't ALLOW me to take 2 days of continuous leave. I usually plan my leaves a month ahead, like, for December and January, I have already sent my schedule of leaves."

He added that this is something he has been doing for a long time. Every month, when he requests two days together, his manager refuses. “This has always been my routine every month. He cries like a child every month when I mention 2 continuous days as ‘Leave' and then I break it and take it in 2 different days."

He also shared the reason his manager always gives: “Reason he says, ‘Team is small and my absence is putting all the pressure on the team members.'" But the man asked how anyone could plan a proper break or trip without at least two days together. “How can one plan a Trip/Vacation without 2 continuous days of leaves?" He ended his post with, “PS: No holidays/weekends to be clubbed too."

Here's How Social Media Reacted

The post, shared a few hours earlier, gained more than 500 upvotes and many comments.

A user wrote, “Samjha karo yar the company is dependent on you."

Another warned, “You can be fired anytime but you'll need to turn in your resignation otherwise there will be consequences."

Someone else commented, “This happens when your manager has zero idea of the work." Another user said, “‘Planned' leaves are supposed to planned by the employee. Not the employer."

A person joked, “Your manager acts like your two days of leave will trigger an economic recession." Another asked, “can you not escalate it to HR."
