Chelsea In Hot Pursuit Of UCL Spot With Rout Of Aston Villa As Joao Pedro Nets Thrice
Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea romped to a dominant 4-1 win on the road against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa on Thursday in the Premier League encounter between the two at Villa Park.
Joao Pedro netted thrice, while Cole Palmer added one in the Blues’ statement win after Douglas Luiz had put the Villans ahead early in the game.
Luis opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the game as he put the finishing touches on Leon Bailey’s ball in, before Chelsea began their comeback as Pedro restored parity in the 35th minute of the fixture. Ollie Watkins had a strike ruled offside in the 41st minute as Chelsea grabbed he lead on the stroke of half-time in the sixth minute of added time.
Pedro turned provider for Palmer in the 55th minute of the game to give themselves an insurance goal before Pedro put the result beyond any doubt with his hattrick in the 64th minute of the game.
Fourth-placed Chelsea took their points tally for the season to 48 points from 29 games, the same as sixth-place Liverpool, and remain just three points adrift of fourth-placed Villa.

However, the game took another turn when Elliot Anderson scored in the 76th minute, converting a ball from Callum Hudson-Odoi.
