CGHS beneficiaries’ Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima terms explained: Is it free for all?
The government has introduced a new health insurance plan for central government health scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries. The new plan known as Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima will complement existing CGHS facilities by expanding medical coverage for government employees, the Department of Financial Services says in a statement.
Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima offers cashless treatment facilities, modern and AYUSH treatments and access to a wide network of hospitals. Some of the key features of the central government insurance scheme are-
It offers indemnity-based in-patient hospitalisation cover within India, with sum insured options of Rs 10 lakh or Rs 20 lakh available to CGHS beneficiaries.
AYUSH treatments are covered up to 100% of the sum insured for in-patient hospitalisation. Modern treatments are covered up to 25% of the sum insured, with an optional rider for 100% coverage.
CGHS beneficiaries can get a cumulative bonus of 10% for every claim-free year, up to a maximum of 100% of the sum insured.
No, it is not free and CGHS beneficiaries need to pay a premium. However, as compared to a regular policy, it will be available at a discount of 28% and 42% for 70:30 and 50:50 premium co-sharing, respectively, as per the statement.
Under Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima, the room rent is capped at 1% and 2% of sum insured per day for a normal room and ICU, respectively.
A pre-hospitalisation coverage for 30 days and a post-hospitalisation coverage for 60 days is available to CGHS beneficiaries under the scheme.
Eligibility for CGHS beneficiaries to get Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima
The policy is available only to CGHS beneficiaries and can cover up to six family members under a single policy.
This is an optional health insurance plan and will be available as a retail product for all CGHS beneficiaries, with no GST applicable.
CGHS beneficiaries can purchase a Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima policy through New India Assurance Company Limited's offices and online platform shortly.
CGHS offers comprehensive medical care to central government employees and pensioners.
What is CGHS Contribution?
The following deductions from salary of the employees are made by the department, every month, depending upon their pay in the pay matrix of 7th Pay commission (wef 1/1/2017)
Corresponding levels in Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC and contribution per month
Level 1-5: Rs. 250
Level 6: Rs. 450
Level 7-11: Rs. 650
Level 12 and above Rs. 1000
