CEO Praises ‘Street Smart’ Dolly Chaiwala After Losing Chess Game Twice: ‘Don’t Stereotype People’
Dolly Chaiwala, a tea seller from Nagpur, became an internet sensation after a video of him serving tea to Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates went viral. Known for his dramatic and bold way of making tea, Dolly was already popular on social media, but the Gates clip took his fame to the next level. While many see him only as a tea vendor, recently, Nick Orton, CEO of BodyPower, shared an interesting story by revealing that Dolly is an amazing chess player.
During a casual game at Orton's home, Dolly defeated him after a long match. Orton, who has experience in chess and has even played the game on a national level, admitted that he had not lost a game in years. After playing several times, Dolly won the maximum matches. Through this story, the CEO reminded everyone not to judge someone by their job or appearance.

While appearing on Sagar Khapre's podcast, Nick Orton said, “Dolly, by the way, is a fascinating character. I'll tell you a quick story because it's very easy to think that somebody working at a tea stall is not very bright. But let me tell you that guy's got a very sharp brain. So, he was at my flat and he said, ‘Do you want a game of chess?' Well, I'm a good chess player. I mean, I'll not make any bones about it. I used to be a very, very good champion chess player in the UK a long time ago, but I still know how to play. I don't play very often, but I'm a good standard. And I thought, fine, let's play. This won't take long. That was a big mistake."
“He started to play and I thought he knew how to play and an hour later, I lost that game of chess. The first time I've lost in years and it was a real reminder for me. Don't stereotype people because people will always surprise you. This is a smart guy, not an intellect. Street smart. Very good brain. Very surprising, actually, to me. I've played with him three times now. I lost twice and drew once. Every game's over an hour. He's good. So, it's quite frustrating that I keep losing," the CEO added.

Nick Orton, who is not only the CEO of BodyPower but also helped develop Dolly Chaala's franchise model, shared how quickly the business grew after the franchise was announced. He explained that the first post about the franchise included a long application form with 25 detailed questions. Despite this, they received around 3000 applications for the franchise within just 48 hours.
