CBSE Releases Detailed SOPs For Class 10, 12 Practical Exam 2026; Check Details

The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued stringent guidelines for practicals, projects, and internal assessments ahead of the 10th and 12th board exams. Board exam evaluations follow CBSE regulations; however, delays or errors in mark uploading often lead to lengthy correction processes. To address this issue and ensure uniformity in the evaluation process, the board has introduced new guidelines.

According to CBSE's new directive, any negligence in uploading marks will not be tolerated. Once marks are uploaded to the web portal, no amendments or corrections will be accepted. Schools must exercise extreme caution during the exam marks uploading process. This measure aims to complete all tasks at the school level on time and with full accuracy.

“Ensure that correct marks are uploaded on the web-portal. Correct uploading of marks can only be done by checking the maximum marks assigned to Practical Examinations/Project/Internal Assessment of the subject as given in Circular No. No. CBSE/Coord/ Marks distribution/163685/2025 dated 17/11/2025," states the official notice.

CBSE has announced the dates for practical exams for grades 10 and 12, which must be strictly followed. Practical exams in schools with regular sessions will be held between January 1, 2026, and February 14, 2026. In contrast, exams have already begun in Winter Bound Schools, which were instructed to conduct exams from November 6, 2025, to December 6, 2025. Schools must upload marks on the same day as the practical exams. There is no scope for improvement in marks.

Under the new CBSE guidelines, schools must ensure the accuracy of the uploaded marks. Any requests for corrections after uploading will not be entertained.

To ensure transparency and accuracy, the board has introduced new features in the evaluation process:

Changes in Practical Answer Book: A new feature has been added to the Practical Answer Book.

Responsibility of Examiners: Both internal and external examiners must provide an undertaking that all data has been correctly verified and uploaded.

Instructions for regular and private students

Regular students: Practical exams will only be held for students whose names have been submitted by the school through LOC. Schools must ensure that only genuine students appear for the exam.

Private students: Marks for private candidates will be awarded according to CBSE's established policy and Examination Bylaws. If practicals need to be rescheduled, they will also be conducted as per the Board's policy.

The CBSE main or theory final exams for both classes will commence in February 2026.
