Cars24 operating loss narrowed in FY26
Used-car sales platform , which last month saw two of its founders step down from executive roles in quick succession, reported 27% year-on-year growth in adjusted net revenue for fiscal year 2026 to Rs 1,411 crore. The company has also significantly improved profitability, according to a performance update shared by founder and CEO .
The Gurugram-based Cars24’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) loss narrowed 36% to Rs 357 crore from Rs 555 crore in FY25.
Chopra also said the company turned Ebitda positive in January and is likely to sustain that performance.
“Each business unit is now operating profitably. One platform runs across three countries. The same inspection, pricing, financing and CRM (customer relationship management) stack runs across India, the UAE and Australia. New cities and new geographies inherit the platform rather than build from scratch. Our marginal cost of entering a new market is a fraction of what any competitor faces,” he said.
During the year ended March 2026, Cars24’s operating expenses remained nearly flat at the group level. Speaking to ET, Shivanshu Makkar, Cars24’s India CFO, said that as the company increasingly adopted artificial intelligence tools, marketing costs fell 40-45%, tech costs declined 20-25%, and vendor expenses related to car refurbishment dropped around 15%.
In the second half of FY26, revenue per employee rose 50% from the year-ago period due to AI deployment, which contributed roughly 300 basis points to Ebitda improvement, Makkar said.
Cars24 also operates a non-banking financial company (NBFC), , through which it extends loans to buyers on its platform. The company said loan disbursals from the unit rose 57% during the October-March period of FY26.
Last month, the SoftBank- and Alpha Wave Ventures-backed company saw founders , who served as COO, and , the CMO, step down from active executive roles.
Cars24 was founded in 2015 by Chopra, Agrawal, Jangid and group chief financial officer Ruchit Agarwal. It competes with the likes of Accel-backed Spinny in the second-hand vehicle sales market.
In March, , CEO of the company's India used-car business, also exited as Cars24 prepared for a potential public listing. The company is currently working on shifting its domicile from Singapore to India.
“Practically, very little changes. Both remain shareholders. Mehul continues on the board. Gajendra continues to advise on branding and on Crashfree India, the road safety initiative he has shaped from the start. Ruchit and I will absorb the majority of their executive responsibilities, supported by a leadership bench that has been running large parts of this business for years,” Chopra said in the performance update.
