Car Crash Kills Three Qatari Diplomats Travelling To Sharm el-Sheikh For Gaza Peace Talks
Three Qatari diplomats were killed in a car crash Saturday en route to Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh which will host the summit to be co-chaired by President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi of Egypt and US President Donald Trump.
The diplomats were employees of Qatar's Amiri Diwan, its top government body. The Qatari embassy in Cairo said two others were wounded and were receiving necessary medical treatment at the city's hospital.
These diplomats were from the Qatari protocol team and were travelling to the Red Sea resort city ahead of the summit that was celebrating and finalising the Israel-Hamas ceasefire.
More than two dozen world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and United Nations Secretary General António Guterres will attend the summit that will be held after Qatar mediated the ceasefire along with Egypt and the US between Israel and Hamas, with help from Turkey, which will see the release of hostages and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, following a truce.
