Bengaluru Man Misses Flight Despite Arriving 2 Hours Early, Blames Ground Staff: ‘We Paid For Extra 4Kg But...’

A man at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, claimed he missed his flight despite arriving nearly two and a half hours early. He said the terminal was extremely crowded, and long queues at check-in and security slowed him down. A brief dispute over a 4 kg baggage excess added to the delay, preventing him from reaching the gate on time. According to him, he tried his best to navigate through the rush, but the heavy crowd made it impossible.

So far, the airport has not issued an official statement. After the incident went viral, several travellers said they had faced similar issues during peak hours. Some of them noted that long queues and last-minute rushes have become increasingly common, urging authorities to improve the overall passenger experience so people don't miss flights despite arriving well in advance.

Passenger Claims He Missed Flight Despite Paying For Extra Baggage

In the clip, a man can be heard saying, “He's not ready to let us go, even if we're paying for a 4 kg allowance. We request authorise to take the action and put this guy behind bars."

The video is now circulating widely on social media, along with a description detailing what reportedly happened at the airport. “Bengaluru's Airport witnessed an unusual situation today when a passenger missed his scheduled flight despite reaching the airport nearly two-and-a-half hours before departure. According to the passenger, unexpected congestion and procedural delays at the terminal contributed to the lapse. The situation reportedly escalated as long queues at check-in and security slowed down movement, leaving several travellers anxious about missing their flights."

“Airport authorities have not issued an official statement yet, but frequent flyers say rush-hour bottlenecks have been a growing concern, especially during peak travel periods. The incident has renewed discussions around better crowd management and clearer communication to ensure passengers aren't left stranded despite arriving well within the recommended reporting time," they added.

With no official comment from the airport yet, the incident details remain based on a single account. Irrespective, the video shocked viewers on social media.

‘Using Digi Yatra Would Have Saved You'

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “CRPF bottlenecks at Entry Gate – at least 30 sec for each passenger to see ticket/ ID/ and face. Why is the Airport Authority of India (AAI) reducing gates for Non-Digi yatra passengers? I don't understand."

Another shared, “Every airport goes around asking passengers with flights whose gates are closing to quickly complete check-in. Nothing in your post is quantified or tangible in terms of how and what happened. Could this just be an absent-minded, negligible passenger who was late on his own fault?"

“Using Digi Yatra would have saved you," a comment read.

An individual stated, “I won't blame anyone in particular, but lately flights are getting delayed as overhead compartments are getting full, CRPF is taking its own sweet time, complete chaos outside the airport, and traffic."

Another mentioned, “I've seen airports where ground staff go out of their way searching for late pax & facilitating expedited check in. But, missing a flight even after arriving 2.5 hours early is a new low for the Airport Authority of India needs to be probed."

One more added, “More of a case of last-minute entitled passengers showing off his mobile camera skills to sneak in with a typical Dilli threat, ‘bahar aakar mil, jaanta nahi main kaun hoon'."

New Entry Fee Rules At Bengaluru Airport From December 8

Starting December 8, Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport will begin charging vehicles that exceed the permitted free waiting time at the pick-up zones of Terminals 1 and 2.

Private cars will still have free access, but only for a limited duration, i.e. eight minutes, which the authorities say is more generous than many other airports. After this period, a fee will apply and will increase the longer the vehicle stays. Cars that remain far beyond the allowed time may even be towed, with additional penalties imposed on the owner.
