Bengaluru ‘Drunk’ Driver Threatens To ‘Crash Bus’ As Passengers Plead Him To Pull Over: ‘We Felt Unsafe’
A long-distance bus journey turned frightening for several passengers when they realised something was seriously wrong with the driver. The bus, which was travelling from Calicut to Bengaluru, was packed with people trying to reach the city overnight. According to passengers, the man behind the wheel was allegedly drunk.
Some even said the driver's assistant was also intoxicated. With the bus moving at high speed on a busy route, many on board did not know how to react at first. But when the driver refused to slow down or pull over, panic started to spread inside the vehicle.
Passengers Plead With Driver To Stop
The video shows several passengers standing near the front of the bus, trying to reason with the driver and his assistant. They can be heard repeatedly asking him to stop the vehicle at the next police checkpoint or at least allow them to get down safely. Some of them sound angry, some scared, and others simply desperate. Despite the growing tension, the driver continues moving, ignoring their pleas.
The account that posted the clip claimed that the bus was operated by Bharathi Bus Operators, a company already criticised by many travellers in the past.
The caption shared with the video states, “The driver and supporting staff were clearly drunk during the journey, and you can see in the video that passengers were pleading to stop the bus because they felt unsafe."

Internet Reacts Strongly To The Video
The video was shared on Instagram on November 25 and has already gained over 2.5 million views. Social media users were shocked and angry at how casually the staff behaved while responsible for so many lives.
A user wrote, “Very good, my Kerala brother took a bold step to save all the passengers' lives."
Another commented, “I have the same experience in Kallada Travels." “This is so damn dangerous how can you even close your eyes for a long trip like this," a person said.
Someone mentioned, “I'm a passenger on this bus. The driver was completely drunk and driving really rashly. When we told him to stop, he refused and even threatened to kill us by crashing the bus. We somehow got the bus stopped at the toll gate, and he grabbed half a bottle of alcohol and ran away. Earlier, when we stopped in Gundlupet for a restroom break, he even picked a fight with the restaurant manager who warned him not to drive like that. So please don't spread fake news!"

Tagging the authorities, a person asked, “@bangalore_city_police Could you be able to take action?" Another wrote, “Safety in India is a joke," while someone else added, “@blrcitypolice please take action against the travellers. Drunk and driving travels."
Many pointed out that incidents like this are “the reason behind the majority of accidents," urging strict punishment for those responsible and proper monitoring of private bus operators.
