When a movie manages to grab attention far beyond its own theatres, you know it is making waves. Dhurandhar, the action-packed spy thriller, is doing exactly that. The film, packed with espionage, high-stakes drama and India-Pakistan tensions, has had audiences glued to the screens.
Even though Dhurandhar has been banned in Pakistan and six Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia and the UAE because of its “anti-Pakistan" stance, it seems the movie still holds a strong presence there. This is because a video has surfaced online that shows a song from the film being played at a party in Pakistan where Pakistani politician Bilawal Bhutto is also present.
Dhurandhar Song Plays At Party With Bilawal Bhutto On Stage
The clip shows Bhutto sitting on stage with two other men at the party while the song FA9LA from Dhurandhar plays in the background. The song, by Bahraini rapper Flipperachi, is tied to one of the film's most talked-about characters, Rehman Dakait, played by Akshaye Khanna. In the movie, Akshaye's entry in this track is electric that instantly left a mark on the audience. It is surprising to see the same song playing at a public event in Pakistan even though the film is banned there.
The clip was shared on X with the caption: “A song from #Dhurandhar was played during the entry of Pakistani politician Bilawal Bhutto — and that alone says a lot. On one hand, cases are being filed against this film in Pakistani courts. On the other hand, they're openly playing their songs at public events. From films to music, Pakistan seems completely obsessed with Dhurandhar right now."
Indian Fans Spot The Irony
The video sparked a lot of chatter on social media, with Indian audiences reacting to the irony of the situation.
One user commented, “Cases against Dhurandhar in Pakistani courts, yet Bilawal enters to its beats! Our Bollywood is so epic, even they can't resist!"
Another wrote, “FIR in the morning, playlist in the evening."
“They definitely are. Their wedding events are upbeat with Indian music," someone else remarked while a person said, “They can't spend a day without embarrassing themselves!"
Dhurandhar Box Office Success
On the business front, Dhurandhar continues its unstoppable run. In just 13 days, the film has broken more than 25 records and is racing toward the Rs 500 crore mark. On its second Wednesday, it collected Rs 21.29 crore which took its total domestic collection to Rs 433.04 crore.
In the film, Ranveer Singh plays Hamza, an Indian spy who infiltrates the crime-heavy lanes of Pakistan's Lyari to dismantle terror networks backed by the ISI. Apart from Ranveer and Akshaye, the film also stars Rakesh Bedi, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles.
