Bank Holiday Next Week: From August 10 to August 16, banks will remain closed on three days in different parts of India. Below is the full list of bank closures next week, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar:
Bank Holiday Next Week: As the second week of August 2026 begins, Indian banking customers should keep track of the upcoming bank holidays to plan their branch visits in advance. From August 10 to August 16, banks will remain closed on three days in different parts of the country due to regional observances, the weekly Sunday holiday and Independence Day.
Below is the full list of bank closures next week, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar.

While digital banking services such as internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services will continue to remain available, physical banking services at branches of SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and other lenders will remain unavailable on the following dates in applicable locations.
August 13 (Thursday): Banks in Imphal will remain closed on account of Patriot’s Day.
August 15 (Saturday): Banks across India will remain closed on account of Independence Day. Banks will also observe a holiday for Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi).
August 16 (Sunday): Weekly bank holiday across the country.
Except for the regional holiday in Imphal on August 13 and the nationwide holiday on August 15, banks are expected to remain open and operate normally on August 10 (Monday), August 11 (Tuesday), August 12 (Wednesday) and August 14 (Friday) across most parts of the country.
Customers are advised to complete any branch-related work in advance if they are located in Imphal or have banking transactions planned around the Independence Day holiday.

No. Banks across India are closed today, August 8, 2026, as it is the Second Saturday of the month, which is a scheduled bank holiday.
In addition, banks in Gangtok are also observing a holiday on account of Tendong Lho Rum Faat. However, digital banking services, including internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services, continue to remain available.
The RBI categorises bank holidays into three main types:
1) Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act–These affect cheque clearing and branch-based banking services at the national or state level.
2) RTGS Holidays–Days when Real Time Gross Settlement transactions are not processed through bank branches.
3) Bank Closing of Accounts–Typically observed on April 1 for annual account closing.
Yes, despite physical branches being closed, digital and online banking services remain fully operational.
24/7 Availability: RTGS, NEFT, UPI and internet banking services operate continuously throughout the holidays. Customers can use the digital banking services to transfer funds, pay bills and shop online at any hour of the day, including Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays and on official bank holidays.

Transaction Processing: Digital transactions reach completion in less than one minute or within thirty minutes in most situations. When a user performs a payment through mobile banking or internet banking, the transaction will process without any delays during holidays.
Branch Limitations: Physical bank branches have restrictions, while digital channels enable users to access all services without interruptions. Bank branches will not process RTGS transactions that customers initiate at the branch during holidays or during the second and fourth Saturdays when the branch remains closed. The bank only processes transactions that customers submit through its online digital platforms during these specific times.
