‘Bade Brand Ka Ye Haal?’: Woman Claims ‘Plastic Came Out Instead Of Yolk’ From Eggs, Company Issues Statement
Packaged egg brand Eggoz has once again found itself at the centre of controversy after a woman alleged in a video that the eggs she ordered contained plastic inside. The eggs were purchased through the quick-commerce grocery platform Zepto.
The company later responded to the claims. But even as discussions intensified online, questions were raised about whether the visual shown in the video actually indicated plastic or something else entirely.
Woman Claims ‘Plastic’ Came Out Of Eggoz Eggs
In the video, the woman explains that she had ordered Eggoz eggs from Zepto. She claims that when she put them on boil, something unusual appeared inside.
“Hum aaj tak sirf sunte aare the ki nakli eggs market mein mil rahe hai, plastic ke eggs market mein mil rahe hai but aaj toh maine ye example apne ghar mein hi dekh liya. Maine Eggoz everyday brand ke eggs order kiye the Zepto se aur jaise hi maine wo eggs boil hone ke liye rakhe, uske andar se egg yolk ki jagah plastic nikal kar aane lag gaya ((We had only heard till now that fake eggs or plastic eggs are being sold in the market, but today I saw an example in my own house. I ordered Eggoz Everyday eggs from Zepto and as soon as I put them to boil, instead of yolk, plastic started coming out)," she says while showing cracked boiled eggs with yellow string-like formations inside which she described as “plastic."
She further adds, “Aap khud dekh sakte ho video mein, noodles ki form mein plastic nikal kar aaya hua hai. Har ek egg ke upar stamp hai Eggoz everyday ki. Ye dekho ghar mein kaise plastic ke nakli eggs pauch rahe hai. Ye hum sab khare hai aj ki time mein. Aise nahi dekhte, kisi aur form mein banaye hote toh pata nahi lagta ki hum plastic khare hai. Ye boil kare egg fut gaye jiski wajah se pata chala ki ye plastic hai. Jab aaj ke time par itne bade brands ka ye haal hai toh kya hi reh gaya hai khane ke liye (You can see in the video yourself, plastic is coming out in the form of noodles. Every egg has the Eggoz Everyday stamp on it. Look how plastic fake eggs are reaching homes. This is what we are buying today. If it had been cooked in some other form, we wouldn’t have even realised we were eating plastic. These boiled eggs burst and that’s how we found out. If this is the condition of big brands today, what is even left safe to eat?)."

Internet Expresses Concern And Anger
The clip triggered a wave of sharp responses online with one user commenting, “This is so true guys! I have been facing the same. So, I have started supporting eggs from local vendors. I go and buy eggs from a local vendor and those eggs are really great."
Another said, “We buy eggs thinking we’re fulfilling our child’s protein needs… but these days, what is truly healthy anymore? It’s not just about one brand — it’s about so many products in the market."
“Never order eggs online, they usually send products which are about to expire," someone else claimed.
“This is reality of eggs. All daily used items are defective. You can’t trust anything in Indian market right now," a person added.
“Desh mein har chiz mein milawat ho rahi hai aur FSSAI kya kar raha hai? (There is adulteration in everything in the country and what is FSSAI doing?)," a viewer questioned.
Eggoz Responds To The Allegation
After the video gained traction, Eggoz responded publicly, saying, “We’re really sorry to hear about your experience and completely understand your concern. This is not the kind of situation we ever want our customers to face. Kindly DM us your contact information and our customer support team will connect with you to resolve this at the earliest. Thank you for bringing this to our attention."
No Proof Of Plastic, Says Grok
But the string-like formation seen inside boiled eggs does not automatically prove the presence of plastic. According to chatbot Grok, “This information is not confirmed. The ‘plastic’ shown in the video is likely the natural egg membrane (chalaza), which can appear stringy when boiled. Similar claims have been debunked before—fake egg videos are often toys or demos. No confirmation from egg producers or official sources."
Earlier Controversy Around Eggoz Eggs
This is not the first time panic has spread over claims about the brand’s eggs. Earlier, a YouTube video by channel Trustified alleged that Eggoz eggs contained banned, cancer-causing chemicals.
Following that claim, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) directed its food safety officers to collect samples of both branded and unbranded eggs from stores across the country to check whether they met safety standards.
The food regulator later reassured the public that eggs sold across India are safe for human consumption. FSSAI also moved to counter media reports and social media posts claiming that eggs contained carcinogenic substances, specifically nitrofuran metabolites (AOZ). The authority labelled those claims as misleading and scientifically unsupported. The body stated that no national or international health body has established a direct link between normal egg consumption and increased cancer risk.
