‘Attack On Our Hearts’: Owaisi Slams Action Against ‘I Love Muhammad’ Poster During Procession
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi condemned the ongoing ‘I love mohammad' poster row. Questioning government's actions, the Hyderabad MP asked “what's illegal about it?" During a rally in Bihar's Bahadurganj, Owaisi said, “In your city, someone was carrying a poster in a procession which read ‘I Love Muhammad'. The officials snatched the poster and said that it cannot be shown…"
He further said that when Hindus say ‘I love Mahadev', no one has an objection.
“If someone uses the same slogan for any of their religious leaders, as our Hindu brothers did, ‘I love Mahadev,' we have no objection. This is their belief. If we carry around a poster saying ‘I love Mohammad,' what is illegal about it*? What is there in it that incites anyone to violence, aggression, or violence?" AIMIM chief said.
The he Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP further said that the actions being taken by the government are “attacking" hearts of the Muslim community. “You told our girls they couldn't wear hijabs and burqas. The actions the government is taking now are attacking our hearts. Remember, we have tolerated attacks on every part of our bodies. But when the heart is attacked, who will survive?" he asked.
‘I love Mohammad' Row
The controversy erupted on September 9, when the police in Kanpur registered a case against 24 people for allegedly installing boards with ‘I Love Muhammad' written on them during an religious procession on September 4.
Bareilly in UP which witnessed tensions on September 26, when locals and police clashed in the heart of the city following Friday prayers after the cancellation of a proposed protest over the “I Love Muhammad" posters. Several people were injured in the clashes.
