Ashu Malik Reacts To Handshake Controversy In PKL 2025: 'Don't Know Why...'
Dabang Delhi faced Haryana Steelers in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2025 match in Chennai on September 29 and won the fixture with a scoreline of 38-37. But what happened post the conclusion of the match surprised everyone. Players from both the teams didn't shake hands with each other, and the moment reminded everyone of the Asia Cup 2025, where Indian team players also refused to shake hands with Pakistani players in all three matches.
Delhi's star player Ashu Malik interacted with the press during a Revenge Week—Media Day organised by JioStar, and during that, when he was asked about the reason for players not shaking hands with each other after the conclusion of the match, he said that he has no idea why Haryana Steelers refused a handshake.
“I honestly don't know why the opponent team refused the handshake. We went forward to shake hands, but they didn't respond. It has been talked about on social media, but I believe it's wrong. If one team comes forward, the other should respect that moment," Ashu said.
“For the upcoming match against Haryana, we will play with a fresh mind, no matter what the opponent does. Aggression can sometimes cost you matches, so we'll play calmly and aim to win," he added.
Dabang Delhi will face Haryana Steelers once again on Tuesday, October 7, and this match is also expected to be a nail-biting contest.

In the ongoing season of PKL, Ashu has impressed with his performance. When asked about his preparations and performance in PKL 2025, he said, “I know the opposition always plans strategies to tackle me, and I prepare myself to counter them. I focus on giving my 100% while keeping in mind when and how they might attempt a tackle. I've been working on all skills – bonus, hand touch, and kicks – because you never know which will be needed in a match. There isn't one specific skill I'm focused on, but I stay sharp across all of them."
In PKL 2025, Dabang Delhi team has won 9 out of 10 matches played so far and with 18 points they top the points table.
