'As Long As It Doesn’t Affect...': Charles Leclerc Reiterates Ferrari Commitment Amid Testing Season
Ferrari star Charles Leclerc brushed away talks of a move away from the Italian manufacturer despite the Prancing Horse's subpar showing in the ongoing season of F1.
Leclerc reiterated his dream of lifting the championship title in the iconic red of the fabled racing unit, and vowed to strive towards improvements with the side.
“I want to be world champion with this team," the Monegasque said.
“The rumours don't bother me as long as it doesn't affect the team. And that's not the case, so I'm not worried and I'll continue moving forward down this path with the team," he added.
After the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Leclerc highlighted the challenges the Italian manufacturer has faced in wet conditions since he joined Ferrari in 2019.
Leclerc disclosed that competing in difficult wet conditions had been one of his main strengths during his time in the junior circuit, and noted that the prestigious team has struggled to adapt.
A few weeks earlier, Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton responded to Chairman John Elkann's remarks following the Brazilian Grand Prix, where Elkann urged the drivers to “focus more and talk less" as Ferrari continues to pursue their first win of the season.
Regarding his relationship with Elkann, Leclerc mentioned that they have known each other for many years and share a strong professional bond. He described Elkann as very ambitious, always pushing everyone to achieve the best results.
Leclerc noted that he didn't see the news but received a call from Elkann, as he does after every race, to catch up and clarify that his message was meant to be positive, stressing the need for improvement.

He expressed his readiness to engage less with the media but underscored the importance of everyone in the team taking responsibility and contributing. Hamilton highlighted the team's passion and his appreciation for the continuous effort of everyone at the factory.
He acknowledged the significant attention Ferrari receives, which is not always positive, but reaffirmed his dedication to helping the team rebuild and grow. Hamilton concluded by saying that every challenge is an opportunity for growth and learning, and he firmly believes they will achieve their goals.
