Arya Babbar SLAMS Prateik Smita Patil For Disrespecting Raj Babbar: 'When You Need Money, He Is Your Father'
It is no secret that Prateik Smita Patil has a strained relationship with father Raj Babbar and his first family, including Arya Babbar. However, the tensions were further intensified when Prateik refused to invite Raj and his first family to his wedding with Priya Banerjee and even changed his surname from ‘Babbar’ to ‘Smita Patil’. Now, Aarya has slammed Prateik for exploiting Raj Babbar.
In a recent chat with Vickey Lalwani, Arya said, “We nurture some relationships with a lot of love because they are too delicate, so you care for them a lot… We didn’t understand when he suddenly stopped connecting with us as soon as his divorce from his ex-wife was sorted. I texted him, called him so many times, but no response."
Arya said Raj Babbar‘s first family with Nadira Babbar is always villainised in Prateik’s story, yet he continues to seek the benefits of being the veteran actor’s son. He said, “It’s like when your career is not doing well, and you need pocket money from dad to survive, then he is your father. When you want to live in the house that your father bought for Smita maa, then he is your father."
Arya Babbar further explained, “When you want all the benefits, then he is your father. But when you have to acknowledge him and give him respect in front of society, then he is not your father. What is that? As an elder brother, I love him, but when he is wrong, he is wrong, and this is where he is wrong."
Arya added, “It is so tragic that the Smita maa, for whom my father left his family, today that Smita maa’s son is not ready to acknowledge him as his father. What could be a bigger tragedy than that?" “As an elder brother, I will be here for him, but if I am asked if I can embrace and love him the same way, then maybe not," he said.
For the unversed, Raj Babbar married Nadira Babbar in 1975, and they later became parents to two children – Arya Babbar and Juhi Babbar. However, Raj fell in love with Smita Patil while he was already married to Nadira. He reportedly got divorced from Nadira in 1982 and tied the knot with Smita a year later. Raj and Smita welcomed Prateik in 1986, but Smita passed away due to complications during childbirth. After her death, Raj got back together with Nadira.
