Arijit Singh’s fans are still soaking in the fact that he has retired from playback singing. Having lent his voice to various chartbusters, Arijit Singh left a lasting impression on Bollywood. Recently, a fan asked the singer to continue working with composers like Pritam, AR Rahman and Mithoon. The singer’s blunt reply has now gone viral.
A fan requested Arijit on X, formerly Twitter, “You should not stop new assignments from Pritam mithoon nd Rahman, it’s a humble request of all your listeners 🙏.” To this, Arijit replied, “Some people compose for themselves, not for anyone!” Have a look at the interaction here:

A fan’s comment was in response to a note penned by Arijit. The singer recently addressed confusion surrounding his retirement announcement and clarified that several unreleased and incomplete tracks are still in the pipeline. These songs, he said, will continue to be released through this year and possibly even the next.
Arijit shared a detailed note with his followers on his X account, which was previously private and is now public. He began with a direct appeal: “This message is just for my listeners, please don’t read and swipe right now if you are not my listener, it’s a humble request.” Expressing gratitude to his audience, he wrote, “Hello beautiful people! I just want to tell you all that I love you. Thank you so much for your kindness in this ruthless world.”
Clarifying his current professional status, Arijit explained that although he is no longer accepting fresh playback projects, a significant number of pending songs still require completion. “The list of pending songs are not less you know. I will have to complete a lot of songs… there are so many unfinished songs, they are gonna keep releasing until done. Maybe through this whole year, maybe it will touch next year too,” he shared.
He also urged his supporters to avoid unnecessary debates about his decision. “Don’t involve into explaining people. How many times will you?” he wrote, asking fans to remain calm and not engage in arguments on his behalf. In the same message, Arijit encouraged followers to take care of themselves, meditate and focus on love and inner peace.
