The 2025 Bihar Assembly election results, announced on November 14, delivered few surprises and reaffirmed some political trends. Among the prominent losers was Tej Pratap Yadav, the oldest son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who had contested from the Mahua constituency. As his electoral defeat made headlines, a video from a decade ago suddenly caught the public's attention.
The footage, dating back to November 19, 2015, captures an incident during Tej Pratap's swearing-in as a minister in the then Bihar government under Nitish Kumar. At the time, then Bihar Governor, Ram Nath Kovind, who later became the President of India, was administering the oath. During the ceremony, Tej Pratap mispronounced a Hindi word in the oath, saying “Upekshit" (neglected) instead of the correct term “Apekshit" (expectations).
Kovind immediately intervened, insisting that the oath be recited accurately. He asked Tej Pratap to take the oath again and repeat it exactly as it is written, with no additions or omissions.
The moment was captured on video and quickly became widely noted, both for its political and humorous value.
