Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly left his seat during the game at City Ground, with Postecoglou's fate confirmed shortly after full-time.

The decision comes less than six weeks after Postecoglou's appointment on September 9, following his Europa League triumph with Tottenham.

However, no wins and six defeats in eight matches were enough for Forest to act, leaving the club searching for a third manager this season.

Despite his short tenure, Postecoglou had remained defiant in interviews, famously saying at a pre-match press conference on Friday:
