Amazon’s second-largest office in Asia opens in Bengaluru
Ecommerce giant Amazon’s new office, which will be its second largest corporate office in Asia, officially opened in North Bengaluru on Monday.
The 1.1 million square feet campus, which is the company’s headquarters, will support over 7,000 employees across ecommerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services.
“Large-scale campuses like Amazon’s new campus create high-quality jobs, strengthen the local ecosystem, and support India's digital economy. We welcome investments that build long-term capability and create opportunities for our workforce,” said Dr M.B. Patil, Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, at the event.
Previously, Amazon India’s headquarters was located at the World Trade Center in West Bengaluru.
“India continues to be a long-term priority for Amazon, and Bengaluru has played a central role in our journey here. Over the years, the city has been home to some of our earliest technology and business teams, and today it remains a key hub for innovation and talent,” said Samir Kumar, Country Manager, Amazon.
Amazon India's decision to move office was reportedly done in an effort to cut costs.
In FY25, Amazon Seller Services, the marketplace entity of Amazon India, reported that its revenue from operations had risen 19% year-on-year to Rs 30,139 crore. Losses contracted 89% to Rs 374 crore as a result of expenses increasing at a slower pace. Revenue growth, however, remained moderate compared with the Covid years.
