Amazon Has Made AI Smart Glasses But You Cannot Buy Them: Here’s The Reason
Meta has taken the lead in the smart glasses market and now it even has one with a built-in display like the Google Glass. Samsung has confirmed its plans for smart glasses while Apple is obsessed about making them. Amazon has also entered the newsphere this week with its own AI-powered smart glasses but the company is making it for consumers and you cannot buy them either.
Yes, that's right. These AI smart glasses from Amazon are being developed for its delivery agents, so that they reduce their time using the phones and have access to the details right in front of their eyes with these glasses.
AI Glasses For Deliveries: The Right Upgrade?
Amazon's AI glasses have a head-up display and a camera built into the stem of the glasses most likely. These features might have sounded futuristic before but they are very much the current trends in the wearable space.
Amazon is using the convenience of glasses to help its agents deliver items without the hassle of taking out the phone for every small step of the process. These delivery people can use the glasses to scan the package, make use of its built-in navigation to reach the right address and also capture the visual which confirms the successful delivery.
These can even be used with prescription lenses so that people with numbered-glasses don't need to keep an extra pair. So, you can imagine the delivery guy knocking on your door, and completing the process without the phone in his hand.
Amazon is still testing the prototype version before making it available initially to its drivers in North America and later plan for a wider rollout.
These glasses are mostly being made with deliveries in mind, and Amazon has not shared any plans about making the device for the end consumer anytime soon. That's not all, the company wants to have these smart glasses with features like real-time detection for fake items or even an incorrect delivery will be alerted to the system.
These sound really cool but the agents will be worried about further scrutiny from the company and maybe even more invasive privacy issues.
