Amazon expands AWS Marketplace to India

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is expanding its Marketplace in India, which will allow Indian consumers to buy software and service offerings from India-based technology companies in the local currency. This comes at the back of the company's move to remove friction in buying software services amid rapid growth and AI adoption.

AWS Marketplace offers a list of software services such as security, data and analytics tools that run on the cloud platform from third party companies such as Crowdstrike, Cisco, Salesforce, Deloitte, Freshworks and now Sarvam.

According to a press statement, AWS has over 30,000 listings across over 70 software categories listed on its Marketplace. This is now expanding to India, where customers can transact in the local currency.

Ruba Borno, VP, Global Specialists & Partners, AWS said as enterprises accelerate their AI adoption, AWS Marketplace in India eliminates traditional procurement friction by enabling local currency transactions, simplified tax compliance, and streamlined procurement workflows – giving Indian customers faster access to cutting-edge technologies.

Praveen Sridhar, Head of Partner Business, AWS India and South Asia said that "The expansion of AWS Marketplace in India creates new opportunities for technology providers to connect with India's dynamic customer base. This enables Indian ISVs, System Integrators, and Channel Partners to expand their reach and scale efficiently, while streamlining compliance for all participants. This expansion reflects our commitment to India's innovative technology landscape, helping partners grow while enabling customers to implement IT solutions faster and with less complexity, ultimately accelerating innovation across India's digital economy.”
