Advance registration for the Amarnath Yatra 2026 will begin from April 15 across India, giving pilgrims an early window to secure their permits. The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has announced that registrations will be available at more than 550 designated bank branches. With growing demand every year, the process will follow a first-come, first-served system and will be controlled through daily quotas for each route.
Aadhaar-based biometric verification and online permits are also being introduced to make the process smoother, safer and more organised for devotees planning the pilgrimage.
Pilgrims can register for the Amarnath Yatra at over 550 authorised bank branches across the country starting April 15.
This wide network is meant to make the process accessible for devotees from different regions, allowing them to complete registration closer to home.
The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has made it clear that registrations will be strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each route will have a fixed daily quota, meaning only a limited number of yatris will be allowed per day. This helps manage crowd flow and ensures better safety during the pilgrimage.
Aadhaar-based biometric authentication will be mandatory for all pilgrims.
This step aims to improve security and maintain accurate records of yatris undertaking the journey. It also helps authorities manage emergency situations more effectively.
In addition to physical registration, permits will also be issued online.
This gives pilgrims more flexibility, especially those who may not be able to visit bank branches in person. The online system is expected to reduce waiting time and streamline the entire process.
With a mix of offline and online systems, along with biometric checks, the Shrine Board is aiming to make the Amarnath Yatra more organised and safer.
These measures are designed to handle large crowds while ensuring a smoother experience for devotees travelling to the holy cave shrine.
