Al-Falah University Founder's House In MP Likely To Be Demolished, Family Asked To Evacuate
The Mhow Cantonment Board (MCB) in Madhya Pradesh has issued a formal notice to the current legal occupant of the ancestral home of Al-Falah University founder, Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, directing the removal of what it describes as extensive unauthorised construction.
According to a report by The Times of India, officials have stated that the structure includes a basement level and two additional upper floors that do not match MCB's sanctioned records, raising the possibility that the entire building may have to be razed to regularise the property.
Cantonment Engineer Harishankar Kaloya, in comments reported by TOI, confirmed that the notice pertains to house number 1371, survey number 245/1245, located in Mukeri Mohalla, Mhow.
The property, which served as the residence of Siddiqui and his brother Hamood Ahmed Siddiqui along with their families until the early 2000s, is still registered in the name of their late father, Maulana Hammad.
The report quoted Kaloya as saying that under cantonment regulations, permissions for repair or renovation can be granted only to the lawful title holder, and since the transfer of ownership never took place, the construction stands in violation of the rules.
He further explained that cantonment guidelines permit a ground-plus-two-floor structure, whereas the building in question includes a basement and four floors above it, far exceeding permissible limits.
Officials said that multiple notices had been issued previously, but the occupants allegedly did not respond to any of them, according to the report.
The report also quoted neighbours as saying that a raw leather trader named Hafiz Mazid and his family had been residing in the property, though they have not been seen in recent weeks following heightened attention on the Siddiqui family from law enforcement agencies.
Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui has been placed in 13-day Enforcement Directorate custody in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities at Al-Falah University.
Siddiqui was taken into custody on the evening of November 18 and produced before Additional Sessions Judge Sheetal Chaudhary Pradhan close to midnight.
According to news agency PTI, the judge observed that “all the compliances under Section 19 of the PMLA have been done" and, considering both the seriousness of the allegations and the early stage of the probe, deemed ED custody appropriate.
PTI reported that the Enforcement Directorate has accused Al-Falah University of falsely presenting itself as recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and misrepresenting its NAAC accreditation status.
Citing agency submissions, PTI reported the University's revenue grew sharply from Rs 24.21 crore in 2018–19 to Rs 80.10 crore in 2024–25, contributing to a total of Rs 415.10 crore generated over seven years.
The ED has alleged, as per PTI, that student fees and funds collected from individuals were diverted for personal use, and that Siddiqui continued to influence financial decisions as the managing trustee of the Al-Falah Charitable Trust.

The report also stated that the ED seized Rs 48 lakh in cash during coordinated searches across 19 locations linked to the trust and the university in the Delhi-NCR region, carried out shortly before Siddiqui's arrest.
