Airtel Unlimited data plan: The Bharti Airtel postpaid portfolio has got a major change to its mobile bill plans. Airtel has now extended the unlimited data benefits across all its postpaid plans. The move strengthens Airtel’s value proposition at a time when data consumption in India continues to surge. At least in the Kolkata circle, every postpaid plan, even the entry-level option to the most premium tier, gets the unlimited 4G and 5G data, offering users freedom of internet usage without limitations or additional charges.
As per the listing of the plans, Bharti Airtel has enabled the unlimited data on all of the postpaid plans in the Kolkata telecom circle. The starting price of Airtel’s base postpaid plan is Rs. 449. And now even the entry-level plans come with unlimited data benefits.
But there is a catch, as it’s not the holy unlimited data; it comes with a cap of 300 GB per month. This is further clarified in Airtel’s terms and conditions, saying that the “unlimited” data benefit is subject to a monthly fair usage limit of 300GB over a 30-day billing cycle. This data limit is high enough to make users feel like it’s unlimited, and this removes the daily or monthly limit exhaustion anxiety for the postpaid customers.
Airtel’s unlimited internet in postpaid strategy aligns with the ongoing expansion of the 4G and 5G networks across the nation. As the company’s 5G services are now widely available, they continue to strengthen the coverage and capacity to support the growing data demand of the users.
However, the unlimited data benefit is confirmed for the Kolkata circle; it is still unclear if Airtel has extended the same offer for other circles nationwide.
Also, a point to note is that Airtel is not the only one giving such offers. Vodafone Idea (Vi) has also refreshed its postpaid plans, with some of the plans advertising unlimited data. And Vodafone Idea’s Rs.551 postpaid plan is currently showing the unlimited data benefits. This keeps the segment more competitive for consumers, as if they have Vi and are getting good network coverage, then they can enjoy the similar benefits.
Unlimited data on all postpaid plans is a welcome move for Airtel customers, especially without any price hike. With a large and loyal user base, Airtel’s decision adds pressure on rivals to enhance value in the postpaid segment. As operators continue to upgrade networks and plans, customers stand to benefit from more data, better coverage, and improved overall value.
